FAQ

Do you have a studio? Where will my session take place?

As an on-location photographer, I do not work out of a studio. Instead, I prefer to shoot at a variety of outdoor locations or in my clients’ homes. We will work together to determine the ideal location for your portraits, based on style, personality, etc. I have a list of locations I can provide, and am always happy to incorporate locations that have sentimental value to my clients!

What time of day is best for portraits?

Ideally, the best time for portraits is about one hour prior to sunset, or the “Golden Hour” (or, if you’re an early riser, early morning, close to sunrise). This time of day creates really beautiful, soft, and most importantly – flattering, light.  Whenever possible, I try to schedule your session during this time frame.

How far in advance should I schedule my session?

As early as possible! I am often booked months in advance, so sessions are best scheduled as early as possible. Newborn sessions should be booked early in your pregnancy, and we will move the date as needed once baby arrives. Maternity sessions are best scheduled for approximately 28-32 weeks, depending upon how you are carrying (and how you are feeling, of course!)

When is my payment due?

Your session fee is due upon booking in order to hold your date. No session will take place prior to payment of session fee. Payment for your final order is due at the time your order is placed.  Your order will be filled after full payment is received.

What forms of payments are accepted?

I accept Cash, Check, Credit Cards and PayPal.  Payments made by check must be received a minimum of one week prior to session date.

How quickly after my session will my proofs be available?

Your proofs will be ready for viewing two weeks after your session date.

How long will my session last?

Session lengths will vary depending on the subject(s) being photographed, location, etc. Typical portraits sessions will last 1-2 hours. Newborn sessions may last 3-4 hours.

What should I/we wear?

Your welcome guide will contain a What to Wear guide, and I happily work with my clients on an individual basis to choose the right clothing for your session. Don’t stress!

Why won’t I see all images taken during my session?

As a professional photographer, it is my job to select and show only the images that best reflect my clients and my brand. I promise you will see the very BEST images from your session!

What are “mounted” prints?

Mounted prints are simply standard prints, with a very thin backing to help protect the image. I mount all prints 11×14 or larger for added durability and protection. Mounted images can be framed.

What are “bordered reference prints”

Reference prints are included with some packages, in order to show the correct coloring of your images, and have a thin border around each image.  They differ slightly from regular prints, and are not a replacement for Print purchases.

What if I want to order more prints or digital images at a later date?

Any non-ordered images are archived for 30 days after your session date.  An archival fee will apply to any orders placed after that date.
